Charles Randolph

Founder, To Speak Online and Readical
Portland, Oregon

Charles Randolph writes from somewhere between the library and the algorithm. He founded To Speak Online, where he takes culture, media and politics apart to see how they run, then hands readers the pieces to examine for themselves. His work moves between media-literacy essays, poetry and Readical, the book-review column and bookstore built around one idea: apply the page. Before the writing came the trades. He is a journeyman steamfitter with a degree in communication and graduate work at Portland State University, which may explain why he always wants to see the pipes behind the wall. He has lived with epilepsy since he was twelve and tells that story in The End of Strife, a series about the characters we build to stay safe. Let's watch and reflect.
